What "Anjali" means

I was given the name Gita by general consensus. A proper Hindu name from the Bhagavad-Gita meaning "song of the Lord" a great Hindu epic poem; a summation of the Vedic, Yogic, Vedantic and Tantric philosophies.

My mother wanted to name me “Gitanjali” (song offerings) from a collection of poems by her favorite poet, Rabindranath Tagore,  Nobel Laureate - Poet, Writer, Philosopher, Musician, Painter, Educator.

For my Internet “Handle” I have chosen “Anjali,” which is the part of my name meaning “offering.” It has been my privilege to live, work, and travel in vastly different places around the world and to gain valuable, life-enriching knowledge and wisdom along the way.

Sincerely,

Anjali Dawson
